Kate Devereux, NCPS-registered therapist and co-founder of Sessionly

Real therapy origins

Kate is an NCPS-registered therapist with a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Warwick. She runs a private practice in Painswick, Gloucestershire, and founded Earth Wisdom Therapy, a grant-funded Community Interest Company providing reduced-cost counselling across Gloucestershire through a mix of student and qualified therapists.

Before Sessionly, Kate managed both her private practice and the CIC across Google Calendar, spreadsheets, TeamUp, Zoho, and countless Word documents. None of the software she'd tried — and she'd tried a lot — truly reflected how therapists work. Most was built for medical practitioners, while therapy-specific tools often felt overly clinical, Americanised, or poorly suited to UK private practice.

Recognising the need for a single, secure system designed around real therapeutic work, she asked her husband — a Chief Product and Technology Officer — to help build it.

Today, Kate and a growing user-base of therapists and agencies shape Sessionly's product in every meaningful sense.

Mark Devereux has spent twenty years building secure, scalable software platforms — from start-ups through to enterprise systems serving global user bases. His background spans SaaS platform development and product strategy for both public and private sector, fast-growing organisations.
